I am a Scottish artist currently working in the South West of France and I’m a returner to painting after an absence of 40 years.
I was fortunate to attend Art College in Scotland in the late 60’s where I received a classical education in drawing, painting and anatomy. I believe it an artist's duty to themselves and their craft to be continually striving to stretch themselves and their abilities; making art of any sort is a journey that will never end and has no destination. “Painting is an adventure in creative uncertainty”(John Lyons 91 year old Trinadadian artist). I'm not sure that any artist can explain why they do it; it’s a compulsion and you are controlled by your need to paint. I mainly work in oils and sometimes acrylic depending on the genre. My practice covers several genres; abstract, landscape and equestrian. However my core work has moved into wildlife art. For the last two years I have been working on a project concerning wildlife with the sole intention of holding a major exhibition of paintings and drawings of endangered species. If we just realised the importance of the animals we share our world with it could lead to a better world instead of tearing our planet apart in search of personal greed. I am hopeful that I can make a small difference with my depiction of Elephants, Rhinos and Gorillas, as I will be donating a percentage of no less than 10 percent of the profits from each sale to the relevant charity for that animal.
I am happy to accept commissions on any subject either a small drawing or large painting and will work with you to visualise your subject or concept, whether it be a treasured pet, your home or favourite landscape or possibly a work to fit into a certain space, whether an Abstract, Wildlife, Horse or perhaps a Portrait.
I am happy to work from reference photographs but should state that the better the reference the better the finished product. Please contact me with your request and I will happily give you a quote, my prises are very reasonable and start at 80.00 for a small drawing.1. All works will remain my property until fully paid for.
2. I retain the copyright to all works I have created apart from Commissions where the copyright will revert to the customer on full payment of the work. 3. On commissions a deposit of 50% of the quoted price is required before commencing the commission and the balance to be paid before dispatch of the work. 4. All works purchased are to be fully paid for prior to dispatch. 5. The client will be responsible for any import duties on International sales. 6. All postage and packaging is also the responsibility of the customer and a quote for such will be provided. 7. All works up to and including A3 size in both UK and France will be FOC.
